Lookie what I got! When Canon said they’d send me my new camera in two business days, they weren’t kidding. It came in the mail yesterday. So now I’ve got a regular FO-fest for you guys (with more to come… one of my new FOs now resides in Kentucky, where I’ll be headed this afternoon for the annual Valentine’s Day Square Dance — my favorite part of this never-ending holiday)

Pattern: Endpaper Mitts (by Eunny)
Yarn: Knitpicks Gloss in “Dusk” and “Cocoa” (left over from other projects)
Needles: Knitpicks dpns, US 0 and Clover bamboo dpns US 2
Modifications/Thoughts: Before I go into detail, I want to say what a beautiful pattern I think this is. It’s well written, easy to follow, and a terrific project to learn with (Eunny does a great job teaching through patterns). I just wish my skills were a little better. I always intended these to be a test project — learn how to do stranded knitting, negotiate multiple colors, etc. And I did learn. I learned about color dominance. I learned that even though the pattern doesn’t call for it, knitting through the back of the loop in 1×1 rib looks much better than regular knit (although I didn’t consistently tbl on all my rib). I just wish they looked a little more consistent. Blocking helped a lot (more, thankfully, than you will ever know). But I can’t look at them and see them in any other way than sloppy. I don’t want to go on about it too much — they are a gift for m)y mommy, and I know she likes them, so I won’t gripe about how disappointed I am. And the next pair (because, of course, I need a pair for myself) will be better. I’m just glad they are finished.
And, because everyone needs a pick-me-up when it’s this cold out (and believe me, it is! ), as promised — more booties than you can shake a stick at (well, not yet, but almost).
Pattern: Newborn Baby Socks (thanks Bulldog!)

The socks that started them all…
Yarn: Socks that Rock “Fire on the Mountain” (sadly discontinued - it’s my favorite!)
Left Over From: My favorite socks, my Jaywalkers
Needles: US 1.5

Yarn: Knitpicks Sock Garden in “Zinnia”
Left over from: Elfine Socks
Needles: US 3

And one lonely bootie, with hand for scale, for Project Spectrum.
Happy Friday!
Oh my gosh! How funny … I have been working 1×1 rib a lot lately (on sweaters, mittens, etc.) and I came to the same conclusion. I even thought to myself this morning that I should blog about it and say that one thing I learned while studying for the bar is to knit through the back loop when working 1×1 rib!
Your mommy’s Endpaper Mitts are lovely!
The socks turned out so cute! Maybe you can string them all up and use it as a garland.
I think the mitts turned out really well! Your mom likes them - that’s the big thing.
Those socks are too cute for words. Awwwwww….
I have one skein of Fire on the Moutntain… I didn’t know it had been discontinued, so I will be very careful with it.
Man, your colorwork is awesome. I’m so jealous!
How did you like working with the Gloss? I have some just waiting. For something . . . Cute socks. Who’s the baby?
I’m glad they replaced your camera so easily. All of these knits are lovely!
i saw fire on the mountain on their website the other day…maybe they brought it back?
How gorgeous, I’ve been looking for a way to use up odds and ends of left over sock yarn.
Sorry this is such a late comment, but I am diggin’ all those little socks!
Inspires me to knit even more (of course, your colorwork mittens are rather inspiring themselves. . . .).
*Let me just say that your blog was one of the ones I “lost” via Bloglines and just yesterday I was thinking, “I wonder why I never hear about Jennie anymore?” And lo! TwinKnit had just disappeared from my blogroll. Ah, I am so glad I found you again. *grin* I’ve missed reading about Appalachia and all your wonderful knitting.
