Waiting for spring…
Apr 15th, 2007 by jennie
As if the nasty weather weren’t enough, I’ve been floored by a particularly aggressive cold. I haven’t even felt much like knitting, although I cast on and knit a few inches of my mom’s new fingerless gloves (good lord, this particular shade of lorna’s is beautiful! You would never have known it from the skein, but it’s knitting up lovely. Pictures tomorrow, I promise).

On Thursday, I took a quick, somewhat impromptu trip to New York City for the night. My friend’s band from North Carolina played the New York City Barn Dance, and I went to square dance and flatfoot a bit.

It was nice to be in the city (sorry to the city bloggers, but I had no time to organize a meet-up. Next time…), if a little overwhelming. See, New York is a lot like riding a bicycle — you never forget, but after a long break, it can be a little bumpy. I visited my friend Cristina in (*gasp*) Queens and due to the rainy wetness, the Swallowtail shawl got to see it too.

All in all, a lovely trip. And tuesday, if this sickness passes, I’ll be heading down south for a week and a half in Kentucky and North Carolina. Let’s hope the weather clears up.
Now, pardon me while I hack up a lung and settle the Sound Swap.

Sorry to hear you’re sick - spring colds are the worst. NYC sounds and looks fun! Hope you’re better in time for your trip south…
They have barns in NYC!?
Feel better soon!
Is that LL in “Tuscany”? First, I made a feather & fan scarf from the shepherd sport, and the colours *are* lovely. Second, wasn’t the Jitterbug also “Tuscany”? I sense a theme…
Pretty LL!
Sorry to hear you’re under the weather…definitely not fun in Spring. Feel better soon!
i am planning to try my hand (feet?) at square dancing in may - there is a place here that does it once a month, and some friends and i want to give it a try…i haven’t done it since 7th grade p.e. but i’m excited all the same! any tips?
hope you feel better soon!
Looks like a fun trip! I had no idea something like that happened in NYC. Hope your cold is better by now.
