I'm a knitter too and most blogs I sub to (and lurk on *chuckle*) are knitting blogs, but my own blog has the odd political rant (some would say very odd :) ), along with family news and knitting (not as much as I'd like but my struggles with the sock are documented for posterity). I don't see any problem with the odd rave - it makes people's lives seem more balanced, which of course they are behind the scenes, but not always visibly on knitting blogs. It's heartbreaking to see a landscape you love damaged/destroyed. Feeling (mostly) helpless to do anything to fix it sucks.
