Resurrection

Remember this?

Sometimes, five inches of ribbing can take a long time. This is my UFO-in-progress for May. Deep in my gut, I’m convinced it’s too big. In fact, this is partially why the project has laid dormant in the bottom of my knitting bag for ten months. But a year is long enough for an project to be languishing on on the needles, and it’s too far gone to rip. So I’m tackling the ribbing with gusto and hopefully a new optomism. Who knows?

The next few months of knitting are going to be a little boring Chez Twinknit. Thanks to the wonders of graduate school stipends, I’m on a strictly imposed yarn diet until October (which is making reading about all of y’alls MSW hauls painful and wonderful — my own strange brand of self-Schadenfreude?). I’ve not bought any new yarn since March. On top of the yarn diet, I’m also on a new-project-diet until I can get some of these WIPS finished up. So you’re gonna be seeing a lot of projects from the past popping up here in the next few weeks.
Pretty blues!
Hmm, maybe I should go back to grad school for those restrictions….
Oh, grad school summers. Are you picking up a second job or just squeaking by on pasta and eggs?
I haven’t bought yarn since March either, but I think I’m going to splurge a little for Sockapalooza. I mean, it’s not for *me*, so I’m allowed to, right?
The great thing about resurrecting UFOs is that they turn into FOs so (relatively) quickly. Can’t wait to see Orangina.
Gosh, the color is gorgeous. But I feel your pain with the miles and miles of ribbing. I have been working on Ms. Japel’s Turtleneck Vest (knit top down, and then finishing up with something like 9 inches of 3×3 rib at the bottom) for FOREVER. The top part with all the fun shaping was done in a snap. And now the idea of all that ribbing makes me want to pull my hair out.
eek - i haven’t picked mine back up, even after i said i was going to. what yarn are you using? it looks a little thicker than what i’m using, so maybe yours will fly by. good luck! hopefully we’ll both be sporting our oranginas by summer’s end.
