Because too much confidence in my mojo leads to things like this:

Over one year and much agonizing later, all my worst nightmares have come true. Orangina is too big. Unmanageably, unfixably too big. I can’t even look at it. Right now, she is neatly folded and stashed in a box as far up in my knitting “closet” as I can put her. I can’t even stand to seam her right now. She’s too damn big. And wonky. And… awful. It makes me want to throw things. It makes me want to cry. It makes me want never to knit again. So instead, I spent beautiful, sunny yesterday copiously consuming these:

Mint Juleps (only a few weeks late) with mint directly from Jenfee’s garden. Jenfee has a wonderful back yard, where we sat and drank said mint juleps through the late afternoon and into the evening. The nice thing about mint juleps? They’re so sweet you can’t drink ‘em too fast.
Have a wonderful weekend all. I’m sure I’ll post again soon, but in the meantime, I’ve got to hammer out a few more pages of the Diss before my dissertation group meeting this weekend. Hope you’re all enjoying the weather!

oh poo! Orangina is lovely. and mint juleps are, too.
that’s funny, because if i ever get around to actually finishing my orangina, i think it might be too small. i guess those are the knitting breaks sometimes. oh well. drink more mint juleps and don’t let it get you down!
I feel your pain. Gah. Definitely leave her in a box and pick up something wonderfully easy — when you have a break from your dissertation, of course. Evil knitting!
Alas about Orangina.
Hopefully you have a productively dissertative weekend anyway.
Maybe turn Orangina into a pillow sham? It is so pretty in that color, I hope you do reknit it eventually.
Good luck with the diss writing!
Ugh. That’s horrible. Have some julips and save the frogging for another day. I just frogged a 2 year old project that I knew was a total failure the moment it came off the needles. These things need to stew in one’s closet some years…
sorry about orangina. total pisser but once you frog you’ll feel better. and mint juleps…sigh…such good memories of summers down here and mint juleps. i think the two go hand in hand.
I’m sorry about Orangina. Pull out your lovely pink socks again and look at those to console yourself.
